Earlier last month we received an e mail from an NGO in Pune . It came through our star volunteer facilitator Mr Abhishek Misra who works in collaborative projects that Nri Support India does in with My trustee friend Dr Radhika Batra founder Every Infant Matters.

The E mail was from Baswaraj (Basweshwar) Nagnath Paike of Sankalp Pratishthan, Udgir, Jankalyan Samiti Maharashtra Prant and Saksham NGO.

He highlighted the horrible condition of Persons with disabilities (PWD), suffering due to COVID-19. Many of them lost their jobs. They are not able to afford the cost of education for their kids. COVID has affected them in continuing their digital mode of education due to lack of access to smartphones.

Hence, the process started towards their education with kind support of our group’s reach .

It seems like a small distribution project but nothing was too much trouble for UPCA UK . We have started on the Independence Day with the initial distribution of stationary and for going forward will be more than 110+ school going kids needing help with stationary items (books, notebooks, etc.), old/new smartphones, tablets & laptops.

What I liked was that it was a very inclusive programme .

We were given a list and realised that the list was so inclusive that it included students from class 10th and above and the students below class 10th were the kids of PWD parents with kids showing no physical disability. Being kids of PWDs they had to face immense prejudice as well.

Going forward we want to keep working with them . As Nowadays, PWD employment is a major problem in rural parts of India. We will be happy to know some of your ideas, schemes and low cost old machineries to stimulate them to earn a living.

Again many many thanks to Mr Tejas from ‘India cares’ NGO for the last minute distribution as it was next to impossible for us to be in the floods situation.
